Buried Bones - a historical true crime podcast with Kate Winkler Dawson and Paul Holes

On Buried Bones, journalist Kate Winkler Dawson and retired investigator Paul Holes dissect some of history’s most compelling true crime cases from centuries ago. Together, they explore these very old cases through a 21st century lens. With their years of expertise and knowledge of modern forensics, they reflect on how far science has come and bring new insight to old mysteries. Together, Kate and Paul have examined many cases including the 1932 Lindbergh baby kidnapping, the first time fingerprinting was used as evidence in a courtroom and a possible serial killer in 1960s Nashville. They ask, was the right person convicted or was someone wrongfully accused? See pictures, diagrams and evidence from each case on Instagram @buriedbonespod. Buried Bones is part of the Exactly Right podcast network that provides a platform for bold, creative voices to bring to life provocative, entertaining and relatable stories for audiences everywhere. If you love the 16th 17th and 18th century anything, you are going to love this podcast. Kate and Paul do an amazing job with the details of these historical murders that you can visualize beautifully what happened and how it was solved or why it is still unsolved. I highly recommend this podcast!!!!
Best TC podcast, hands down!

Kate Winkler Dawson, Paul Holes and the “behind the scenes” crew of BB, put together a true crime podcast that is very engaging, polished and professional yet feels down to earth and accessible, and compelling whilst never being exploitative or sensationalistic. I am very picky about which True Crime podcasts I listen because unfortunately many seem to fall into the category of 1) Lacking a sense of overall professionalism, 2) Going for sensationalistic details or 3) Morphing into a show that focuses too much on the hosts personal lives or constantly sharing emotional reactions/personal opinions in response to the story they’re telling. At the beginning of each episode KWD and PH have some kind of personal check in, but I look forward to it as it gives you just the right amount of personal awareness/sense of connection that is ideal with a podcast you regularly listen to and then they roll right into the episode. This is hands down not just my favorite TC podcast but my favorite podcast full stop. 10/10, would recommend to anyone who has an interest in True Crime or just high quality storytelling :).

It’s not strange that they bulldoze the house. It’s 1945, if the fire chief declares the kids dead that’s it; the case is closed. Remember at that time there wasn’t the forensics that there are today so the family bulldozed it down to wipe out the horrible memory.
Refreshingly professional

I love the organization of and consistency throughout this podcast! I also love the lack of filler words and that you don’t speak over each other. I usually get so annoyed with the chit chat at the beginning of podcasts but somehow y’all do it right - short and sweet. I hate that I’m caught up and have to wait for new episodes now, but it’s worth the wait!
