Today, The Podcast Academy (TPA) and BIPOC Podcast Creators, jointly announced its first-ever partnership for the 2023 Spring Mentorship Program. The application process for mentors and mentees is now available here; the deadline to submit is January 20. The four-month virtual season will begin February 1.

“The Podcast Academy is committed to providing its members with the necessary tools and resources for success,” said Donald Albright, chairperson of TPA. “As part of that commitment, we’ve partnered with BIPOC Podcast Creators to ensure that podcasters–whether just getting their start or seasoned veterans–have a comprehensive understanding of the ever-evolving podcasting landscape. This includes diverse creators, audiences, voices, and beyond.”

“We’re thrilled to partner with The Podcast Academy to support the growth and mentorship of creators across podcasting,” said Tangia Al-awaji Estrada, co-founder of BIPOC Podcast Creators. “This partnership represents an opportunity to ensure underserved voices receive the support they may not otherwise know how to access. Podcasting is still realizing its full potential and we firmly believe the future of podcasting is multicultural. That’s why we are excited to support such a worthwhile program.”

As part of TPA’s mission to support podcast makers and advancement of cultural merit of the medium, TPA connects members across the worlds of content and business development through its Mentorship Program. Each season, TPA mentees are matched into a workgroup with up to five peers who share a common role, interest or goal in podcasting. The workgroups are led by a TPA mentor with at least three years’ experience or expertise specific to the workgroup’s shared focus or topic. These mentors coordinate monthly meetings for productive discussion, knowledge sharing and to stage peer and mentor support in setting and tracking each member’s individual four-month growth goal.
